It's been a big summer of change at the Madejski Stadium. Brian McDermott was harshly dismissed and replaced by Jaap Stam, the former Dutch international. It is a bold move especially given McDermott was only at Reading a short space of time in his second spell at the club and not really given much of a chance to make his mark. Not surprisingly it has been a pre-season of several overseas signings although highly-rated Chelsea midfielder John Swift is another addition. The loss of Hal Robson-Kanu is a big blow as is the switch to Aston Villa of Aaron Tshibola. New players may take their time to gel and it is very difficult to assess Reading's chances this term. But on the face of things further investment is necessary in terms of playing additions.

Target

Play-offs will be wanted but that may be asking too much.
