Brondby finished only third last season. Despite having the second-fewest defeats (7) the inability to win matches, only 13 wins in 32 rounds, saw them stay well behind the top two sides. Changed managers during the winter break to try and address their ineffective displays. Young coach Birk (35-years-old) was unable to change the fortunes but at least he secured a place in Europe and another podium finish. Last season, the star forward duo Suzuki-Kvistgaarden netted between them 29 of Brondby’s 58 league goals. Both were sold this summer so a brand new front line will have to be build. So far, Brondby looked to reinforce the attack only in Japan. Added young strikers Fukuda and Uchino to the ranks. The former should be a regular starter. Uchino is inexperienced so he most likely will have a limited role. Will need to reinvest more of the money for their departed stars and soon. Have to find a typical centre forward. The only player that fits that role right now is the returning from an unsuccessful loan at Vejle Yeboah. The other main departure was that of captain Rasmussen. The solid centre-back will be missed but even without him the depth in defence remains decent. Mats Köhlert is also a nice addition to the back line. Capable to play at left-back in a 4-man defence, but also comfortable as part of a back 3. Young playmaker Benjamin Tahirovic had some problems impacting games last spring. He only joined in the winter. With a full pre-season behind him now he should be much more influential. Patrick Pentz had the most clean sheets in the entire league last season (8) and he remains arguably the best goalie playing in Denmark right now. If they can find new star striker soon Brondby will believe they can be serious title-contenders this campaign.

Target

Securing another top 3 finish is a must. Mounting a title-challenge is the secondary goal.
