Viborg had an average last season. They missed out on Play-off I. Finished the regular season only in eighth place after 7 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats record. After that failed to beat Silkeborg in the decisive play-off clashes and were unable to win Play-off II. The main issues were in defence. Only 3 teams conceded more than Viborg’s 50 goals. The attack was effective at least and the Greens had the fourth-best record among all 12 teams with 57 goals scored. It has been a summer of turmoil since. The head coach Poulsen left and only a week before the start of the season Viborg don’t have a new permanent manager in place. This is affecting the transfer activity with no real new signings made. Impactful winger Njoh made his stay at the club permanent but no new players have been added. On the positive side no major departures have occurred yet either. Still, for Viborg to have some stable structure and game plan they need a new manager. The search is proving difficult than expected, as things stand Viborg are in real danger of entering round 1 under a caretaker staff. The problems in defence are not likely to go away without new signings. If anything the options will be less early in the campaign. The main left-back Oliver Bundgaard is recovering from an ACL tear, so he won’t be available until 2026. Captain Jeppe Grønning will have to continue organising the midfield line. 19-year-old Thomas Jørgensen showed a lot of promise helping in that area last season and he is hoping to get an even larger role this term. Up front continue sold their top goalscorer from last season Renato. This was his first year as a regular so Viborg opted to cash-in on the short-term promise he showed. Still have their top goalscorer from an year earlier Ementa in the ranks. He impressed 2 years ago when he was the main focus of the attack. Will be eager to shine again this season. A double-digit goal haul can be expected from Ementa is he reclaims his regular starting role as projected. Until a permanent new manager is found it remains unclear what formation or personnel will be favoured.

Target

Will be happy with a top 6 finish. Might fall short again, especially if the managerial situation remains messy.
