Secured an impressive domestic double last season – lifted the league title and won the Danish Cup. It wasn’t the best of starts. Trailed defending champions Midtjylland by 10 points come late September. However, solid run of wins right before the winter break saw the Lions enter the play-off stage just 4 points behind Midtjylland. In the play-offs decisive wins against the bottom 3 teams saw Copenhagen steal the title by a single point. Despite the trophies won the Lions didn’t have an impressive squad. Had two different goalkeepers starting in the two halves of the season, no player scored more than 10 league goals and only two players (Gabriel and Victor Froholdt) made the Superliga 3F perfect XI. That said 19-year-old playmaker Froholdt and 18-year-old striker Chiakh emerged as great talents. The two will be involved even more in the coming season. Copenhagen already addressed their two main issues from last year too. Spent over 10 millions on goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski and striker Youssoufa Moukoko. Both are expected to be regular starters. Also, added the 17-year-old wonderkid Dominik Sarapata to the midfield. He’s likely to be used mostly as an impact sub, although with veteran Falk leaving there will be games in which he will start. Bright winger Elias Achouri led the entire league for assists just two years ago. He spent most of last season out injured but his return for the play-offs immediately improved the attacking threat. If Achouri can stay fit now Copenhagen should be scoring much more goals. Kept the backbone of their solid defence intact. Made moves to secure permanent deals for Hatzidiakos and Lopez after their vital roles last term. Also, added depth with the additions of youngsters Suzuki and Zague.

Target

The only acceptable outcome is to defend their title. Won’t be an easy task.
