Despite very difficult regular season Sonderjyske survived in what was their first year back in the top flight. Had only 4 wins during the regular season (5 draws and 13 defeats) and the worst defence – 51 goals conceded in 22 matches. Luckily, major transformation during the play-offs – 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats – saw them secure their safety with 2 games to spare. With his 11 goals and 10 assists Lirim Qamili was among the main reason for this spring revival. Naturally, his loan stay at the club was made a permanent move this summer so he will be the main chance-creator going forward. Another winger Lyng also made his stay permanent, while to address the fragile defence two new centre-backs have been signed already. Both are not expected to become regulars but at least experienced Magnus Jensen should see plenty of use. The displays and results improved last season when the manager started using 4-3-3 formation. He is likely to stick to this shape, especially with the depth on the flanks now guaranteed after the two impressive loanees were secured. There have been no regulars departing so far in the summer and the squad is largely the same. Captain Vinderslev lost his starting role during the play-offs. Yet to be seen if he can reclaim his spot in the heart of the midfield going forward. Sonderjyske looked better when not holding to the ball too much and playing in transition. Vinderslev is weak in such a game plan, so his weakness could see him losing his importance.

Target

The main goal is to stay out of trouble. It could be tricky. Need to be winning at home a lot to stay out of the bottom 2.
