Silkeborg had a decent last season despite missing out on a top 6 finish. They reached the Danish Cup final in second consecutive year, lost to Copenhagen. Also, won Play-off II and the subsequent duel against Randers, so a place in Europe was secured. Tonni Adamsen had another productive campaign, scored 15 league goals. Young striker Alexander Simmelhack also scored some very important goals in the spring. He’s likely to get even more minutes this season. Now Asbjørn Bøndergaard, 17 goals in 25 matches last season for Fredericia, is back from a loan the front line looks really impressive. Coach Kent Nielsen, in charge since 2019, is the longest-serving manager in the league. He knows the team inside out and will continue to develop the few promising young players he has. One of those is Australian winger McCowatt. He is expected to play a much more prominent role this season. To free room for him injury-prone Anders Klynge was sold. He is the only notable departure so far. Yet to make major moves in terms of new signings. The only new face is attacking midfielder Rami Al Hajj, who is not expected to be starting many games. Likely to wait for the first few qualifying rounds in Europe before deciding what type of players and how many should be signed. If Silkeborg reach the league phase they will need to add depth. Very talented young centre-back Alexander Busch spent most of last season out injured. When he played Silkeborg had an excellent record. If he stays healthy now pairing him with Ganchas at the back should give Silkeborg plenty of clean sheets.

Target

Should be able to make the top 6. Don’t have the depth to challenge for medals.
