A strange season in 2020-21 for Famalicão. An awful start brought Famalicão into deep trouble, but a great final third brought them back up to a respectable 9th position. Ivo Vieira's arrival was absolutely determinant for that late success. Famalicão had an impressive group of talents, but inevitably the group was dismantled, as most players were at Famalicão on loan. Club was only able to keep Heriberto, while important names like Babic, Pepê, Vinagre, Guedes, Anderson, Pereyra or Kraev left. Ugarte's departure is imminent. The best Famalicão did in this summer was to keep Ivo Vieira at the helm. He will be capitalizing in the credit that his terrific job last season gave him, and will try to motivate the squad to continue where they left in the end of last season. Luiz Júnior is an immense talent in goal and should have his definitive season, this year. There are a few new names for defence, namely Alex Nascimento coming from Santos. However, Riccieli and Patric William should remain the trustworthy men at the back. Rúben Lima is a complete downgrade to Ruben Vinagre on the left. The midfield lost both in quantity and quality from last season. David Tavares, Teague (from B team) and Ofori (back from loan) will try to fill in the shoes of Ugarte, Pepê and all the others leaving. Ivan Jaime and Gustavo Assunção will have more time to prove their great talent. Ivo Rodrigues will be the main man in attack. Heriberto will continue providing power and pace. Newcomers Bruno Rodrigues and Amarildo will be the options for the striker position. Ivo Vieira will keep his 4-3-3 with an attacking and passing style.

Famalicão doesn't seem to have the quality in their squad to repeat 2019-2020 season, and the last 10 rounds of last year. Still, they are expected to hold a top half position.
