Moreirense had another positive season in 2020-21. Perhaps not as brilliant as the previous two, but Moreirense was able to confirm their status of a solid and respectable top flight level team. Not many changes for the new season. The biggest one will be noticed in the dugout: João Henriques arrives at Moreira de Cónegos after a relatively good work in the neighbours Guimarães and an excellent work in Santa Clara. Henriques seems the right man to keep Moreirense in good form. The squad seems slightly weaker than last season, with less options for the long season. Alex Soares, Pedro Nuno and David Simão left in midfield. Star midfielder Filipe Soares and the important left-back Abdu Conté are on the squad, for now, but they seem destined to leave in August. Artur Jorge returns to Portugal and should lead the back-4. Nikola Jambor is a gamble after barely having played in the last two seasons due to severe injury. Frimpong, Conceição and Ismael are all talented but unproved young players. Pasinato should be the main man for goal, if he can fully recover from an injury picked up back in April. Ba and Steven Vitória are the options to form the back duo with Artur Jorge. Pacheco, Mane and Franco are strong options for the midfield but, if Filipe Soares leaves, Moreirense will definitely need to go shopping for a reference in midfield. The attack remains unchanged. 6 Brazilians will be rotating among them. Felipe Pires will feel the obligation to do better than last season when he was just ok.
