Made the play-offs last year. Had the third best attack, 59 goals scored in 38 rounds, but ultimately way too many errors defensively saw them fall short of a promotion. The defensive issues only got worse during the spring in the Vision League. Jubilo Iwata conceded 23 goals in the 18 rounds of the league phase. Stayed way behind the top places. Forced to settle with a place outside the top 30 in the end. Way too many weaknesses defensively displayed for over two years now and there seem to be no solutions in sight. Releasing 6 underperforming defenders is not an issue but with only 2 new additions in defence made so far the struggling back line looks even weaker now. On top of that none of the 4 forwards loaned in to help in attack is a long-term solution. They all have their deals run only until December, so there are major unknowns how the front line will look past the halfway point. The feel is that the squad has gotten weaker compared to last season. This will make it harder to be back in the promotion play-offs.
