Strømsgodset were one of the teams that overachieved last season with quite a compact and efficient squad that earned results in key moments and never felt in danger of being dragged into the relegation mire despite having quite a modest squad as a whole. Now Jørgen Isnes will aim to keep up the good work from last season and make the team more consistent in midfield and attack and make sure that the opposition are not able to neutralise them. The main change in the squad compared to last season is in the goalkeeping department as long-serving goalie Viljar Myhra moved to Danish side Odense and has been replaced by Per Kristian Baratveit. The latter has extensive top-flight experience and the transition is likely to be pretty smooth. Jesper Taaje is a good addition at the back from Sandefjord and could become a regular this season as well. Further up the field, the likes of OIa Enersen, Eirik Ulland Andersen and Marcus Mehnert will be expected to provide service to Elias Melksersen, who was quite impactful on loan from Hibernian in the second half of last season and has turned his move into a permanent one. Overall, the ingredients are there for Godset to have quite a steady campaign and could actually be one of the dark horses for the top six places if they make a strong start.
