Football Season Review

№12: Sivasspor

Sivas kicked off the last season well with coach Tamer Tuna, but a run of only one victory in 10 fixtures and an early cup exit made the board change the coach position in November. After that, they did well with coach Hakan Keles and could finish the season’s 1st part in the midtable. In the winter transfer market, they decided to sell 8-goal top scorer Robinho considering the club’s financial situation. Despite that, it was criticized a lot by the fans. Instead of him, they added Diabate and Vieira, but Diabate had no positive effect and the latter did not play any minutes because of a heavy injury. Besides them, their squad structure was not well-established. Except Emre Kilinc and Arouna Kone, there was no one who could take responsibility in the offence. They have really struggled on the road and became the most conceding team of the league. Their center backs like Braz & Bjarsmyr’s performances were not at the league’s level. Besides that, they had no back-ups. They could taste only two victories in the last 13 fixtures, but those results have enabled them to survive. If they do not want to repeat this season’s failure, they will have to increase the team’s quality in the summer for sure.

Player of the Season: Emre Kilinc
