Degerfors’ first season back in the topflight saw them survive and finish in 13th position. They were either good or bad with nothing in between. Home form accounted for their existence in the Allsvenskan (W7 D1 L7) as they flirted with relegation for the second half of the season but avoided a play-off on the final day. Last season’s top scorer Edvardsen (16) has moved to Djurgarden and they will find it difficult to replace him. Forwards and regular starters Dahlstrom, Arbraham and Ayaz have also followed him out the door. Defenders Tamimi, Lindahl and most importantly, Ekroth, have also chosen to move on. The midfield remains mostly intact from last season. Highly experienced centre-back Mukiibi has signed along with right-back Gyau, who has a wealth of experience from German and American football. Scoring midfielder Campos joins from Danish football with Orqvist signing from Norrby in the Superettan. Attempting to rebuild their attack, Vukojevic also signs from Norrby with an impressive 15 goals last season. So far it seems Degerfors have lost more over the winter than they have gained. Without Edvardsen’s goals and Ekroth’s defensive craft, they seem destined to struggle and it is difficult to see them improving on last season and becoming a mid-table team.

Target

Another quiet season under the radar and avoiding a relegation scare.
