Elfsborg didn't achieve for one more season to gain the Allsvenskan title (their last title is dated on 2012) but also they didn't achieve to finish in a top 2 positon -like in 2020- as they finished 4th. Despite being very good on the road, they managed to win only 8 out of 15 home matches and that was enough to prevent them from seriously contending for the title. Three starters left the team during the preseason, one in each line, McVey, Holst and Ndione are not in the club anymore while Gustav Henriksson is back from Wolfsberger, being a key addition for the defensive line. Another positive for Elfsborg in the preseason was the extension of their star goalkeeper Tim Ronning despite his name was heavily involved in transfer market. The team remains pretty the same with last season, though, and they will try to invest on this. They reached on March the Cup Semi Final but they were eventually eliminated by Hammarby. Elfsborg traditionally are very good on the road games. They have to be more focused and improve in home matches though as this weakness can prevent them from being competitive again for the title. They will be a solid team though with Frick and Okkels to be the main threats.

Target

To finish in a top 3 position and, why not, to contend for the title
