Football Season Guide

Varbergs impressed with their consistency the last two seasons as they always set a target for points and they achieved it with enough success and without problems. Last season they gathered easily 37 points, avoiding any big relegation concerns. As expected for a club like Varberg, there will come a time when players who have impressed want to move on. There are many new names in the squad compared to last year. Most importantly the team has lost Stojan Lukic, a very well and experienced goalkeeper, and Jean Carlos Brito an experienced defender, each one of them had played for more than 20 matches last season. On the other hand talented youngsters like Ismet Lushaku were added to the squad while Johansson and Alfonsi will get more chances this year. This season they started well in the Cup but they didn't excel as they were knocked out by Norrkoping. Defensively, Varberg has impressed during the pre-season, which also captain Jon Birkfeldt, as well as Hampus Zackrisson and Oliver Stanisic contributed to. Coach Persson remained and he is known for his rotation in the starting lineup so Varberg was one of the teams that used the most players during last season. We expect this to happen during the upcoming season,too. Of course the extended rotation that coach Persson prefers to do throughout a season means that all the players have to contribute on the same way, otherwise the team will lack consistency and that's a possible weakness for Varbergs.
