Sundsvall will play for their 20th season in Allsvenskan where they return after 2019, as they finished easily in the 2nd place of Superettan last season and got promoted directly. Within the pre-season there were not many players that left the club but also there were no major additions of star players. Goalkeeper Linner and midfielder Lindkvist will of course add quality to the team but things remain very difficult for the team's effort to avoid relegtion. That was obvious from the performance of the team in pre-season and especially in the early Cup stages where they were defeated by both Elfsborg and Degerfors, conceding 3 and 4 goals in each match respectively. That's why the team changed their tactical scheme to a more defensive 3-5-2. Engblom and Hallenius will remain the main threats of the team this season again (last season they scored a combined 25 goals) but Hallenius is now injured and he will miss a lot of matches bringing great headache to coach Stensson. Sundsvall is the team in the Allsvenskan that has the longest total route to their away matches in the 2022 season (10016 km), about double than the average Allsvenskan team, so this could be a key factor considering possible fatigue throughout the season.

Target

Sundsvall will try not to be "yo-yo" team and relegate just after just being promoted but they have to fight hard to achieve it
