A slow start from Gothenburg worsened and a real threat of relegation emerged last season. After only 1 win in 8 matches Nilsson was sacked and Stahre brought in as the new manager, but with little success. However, they rallied in the final third of the season and finished strongly, climbing into 8th position. All 3 of last season’s goalkeepers, Anestis, Amos and Soderberg have departed. The defence, which improved as the season progressed is untouched. Gothenburg will be affected in midfield with the departure of Erlingmark, who was almost an ever-present last season. Dahlqvist has also chosen to move on. Striker Soder has retired and Sigthorsson has been released from the club. Incoming to the goalkeeping position are teenage prospect Lillienberg and the experienced Hahn. Vastly experienced defender Salomonsson returns from Japanese football to boost their defence. Midfielder Al-Ammari joins after a solid season at Halmstads despite relegation. Estonian Sorga signs after a spell in America with the hope he can rediscover his 31 goals in 34 matches while playing for Flora Tallinn a few seasons ago. Gothenburg have gaps to fill in midfield and goalkeeper but otherwise there’s been few significant changes. They must be hoping for continuance of the good form they were in at the end of last season.

Target

Continuation of the form they had at the end of last season and aiming for European qualification.
