Dynamo Dresden secured promotion back to Bundesliga 2 despite a jittery end to the Liga 3 season. They remained around the top of the table for most of the season, only falling as low as 6th in late October, this sparked a run of 6 wins from 8 games and they would not leave the top two after, eventually finishing runners-up. This will be Dynamo’s first appearance in the second-tier after a three year hiatus. Swiss boss Thomas Stamm has done a solid job in getting the club moving forward again, but his next test will be trying to avoid another step back. The East German club have been relatively busy in the transfer market but more is likely to be acquired before the window shuts. Securing the services of striker Daferner permanently is a big plus after he bagged 18 goals on loan from Nurnberg last season. The return of midfielder Luca Herrmann to Dresden could also be key, providing he can find his form again after struggling to make an impact at Paderborn. Froling and youngster Amoako from Hansa Rostock and Wolfsburg respectively, can also boost the midfield options. The only real significant loss from the team is Jonas Sterner, who returned to Holstein Kiel after a successful loan spell. The right-back racked up 9 assists last season, so his input will be missed. Dynamo were top-scorers in the third division last term so they should be a threat going forward under Stamm, however a more cautious approach is likely with the level of opposition much improved. A strong home following should also make it difficult for visiting teams.

Target

Trying to establish themselves as a second division side again will be the first aim, but this will be tough in a very competitive league. Target - 15th.
