It was another case of close, but not close enough for Paderborn last season. One of the best sides in the division on their day, but a lack of consistency in the second-half of the campaign saw them fall short of promotion. Head-coach Kwasniok has left for Koln after 4 years in charge so there will be a fresh look to Paderborn this season. This being said, new boss Kettemann is likely to adopt a similar playing style to his predecessor. Kettemann's previous role was at Karlsruher U19's so the emphasis on young talent should continue. This has already been evident with six of the seven newcomers all under the age of 22. The loss of talents Zehtner and Ansah is a shame but this was to be expected. A lack of experience from both a coaching perspective and on the playing field could pose problems, but there are still some wise old heads around such as forwards Grimaldi and Michel, as well as veteran goalkeeper Riemann. Paderborn should be unpredictable with plenty of energy, so that will make them dangerous opposition for the upcoming campaign. They were entertaining to watch under Kwasniok, and this is unlikely to change in the new regime.

Paderborn have the credentials to be in the promotion picture once again come May, but this all depends on the integration period under the new management. Target - top 3/6.
