Despite having finished in a decent 8th position, Famalicão had once again a performance slightly below expectations in last season. Famalicenses were once again highly irregular, starting very poorly, improving drastically in the middle of the season, but then having a poor final 5 rounds that ruled them out of European competitions. The iconic João Pedro Sousa will remain at the helm, which is the best piece of news that the fans could hope for in this summer. JP Sousa was the man in charge of Famalicão's memorable 2019-2020 season (6th place and dazzling football). The excellent Luiz Júnior will remain in goal, very well covered by the reliable Ivan Zoblin. At the back, the promising and versatile Alexandre Penetra left for good money. Nathan Santos (right-back) and De Haas (centre-back) are very solid new additions to the defensive system. In the middle, the highly influential Santi Colombatto didn't stay. Topic, Lacoux and Liimatta have all arrived to fill in the Argentinean's spot in midfield, while Gustavo Assunção will be having perhaps his last chance to prove that he is as good as he looked when he was 19. Youssouf will remain the strongest unit in the middle. Ivan Jaime was the star for Famalicão in last season, and he looks close to leave to a bigger club. However, if he stays, Famalicão will definitely be on a higher level on the start of the season. 18-years old, big talent Gustavo Sá might be having his affirmation season, after having had many minutes in last year, already. Henrique Araújo is one of Benfica's biggest hopes for the future, and he will want to leave a strong mark on his loan spell at Famalicão, scoring 2-figures mark during the season and convince everyone at his parent club that he will be ready the leading role of Benfica's attack.

Target

Aiming for a top-7 position.
