Gil Vicente had some troubles in last season, having started poorly and only being able to climb into safe places after the arrival of coach Daniel Sousa, in the middle of the season. Coach Daniel Sousa wasn't kept, which looks to us the first of a series of problems Gil Vicente had to deal during this Summer. Sousa's replacement arrived much too late; Vítor Campelo barely had any time to sketch a plan for his new job before starting the pre-season. Star striker Fran Navarro left, but that was already a well known move for a while. The biggest problem was that some other important units like Vítor Carvalho, Adrian Marín, Tomás Araújo or Aburjania are also leaving, and this exodus of established players may be hard to handle by the new coach in such short time. Croatian striker Baturina arrived to replace Navarro; Leonardo Buta and Martim Neto are talented youngsters that are looking for affirmation. The list of new arrivals is quite long, but mostly formed by players that are unknown in the country. Midfielder Castillo and Dominguez are perhaps the most important names in the lot. Midfielder Kanya Fujimoto is the only major talent that didn't leave this season and will be the key unit in midfield for Gil Vicente, at least during the first weeks, while the new signings settle in.

Target

Hard to predict, given the amount of new players, but there's a chance Gil Vicente will struggle and be involved in relegation struggle.
