Heracles had an epic meltdown at the end of last season as some poor results in the final few weeks of the season turned them from a side in safe mid-table to one that finished in the bottom three and they were eventually beaten by a rampant Excelsior side to find themselves relegated for a first time since 2015. The awful ending of the season proved the end for coach Frank Warmouth, a much-respected and solid coach who had done a lot of good work with the club in the past four ears. John Lammers was appointed as a new boss and he is facing a stern challenge in getting the team up and running and ready for a challenge at the top. The Black and Whites waved goodbye to the likes of Noah Fadiga, Luca de la Torre and Mats Knoester, who were excellent performers last year, alongside a few other lesser used players while the additions so far have been limited to experienced Marko Vejnovic and young defender Sylan Mokono. It is clear that the squad needs more work and signings are imminent but Lammers would certainly want to get a starting 11 established pretty soon to give himself a good chance. Keeping hold of the likes of Anas Ouahim, Elias Sierra and Lucas Schoofs beyond the transfer window will be a bonus while established players like Samuel Armenteros and Emil Hansson can fill their boots at the level. Thus, Heracles certainly start as a team ready to challenge for the play-offs but getting a top-two spot may be a bit more of a reach.
