Football Season Guide

Utrecht U21 have added some additional players to aid in the development on the side. They will look to improve on their 18th place finish last term but their main focus will be on development. Gibson Yah has joined from Ajax's U21 side and he will look to gain some more game time after featuring in a bit part role last season. Yannick Leliendal also joins after making 14 appearances for TOP Oss last season. He will be looking to impress and feature in the first team squad. The U21 side are likely to be without Albert Lottin, Djevencio van der Kust and Ruben Kluivert who are all expected to be promoted to the first team squad. However, they may feature here and there for the U21 side. A number of regulars have also departed the club in the form of Gabirel Culhaci and Eros Maddy. Their positions could be filled by either new signings Jozhua Vertrouwd, Lynden Edhart and Gio-Renys Felicia or from youngsters promoted from the u18s. Ivar Jenner, Mohammed Akharaz and Dion Versluis could all feature a lot more for the U21 side and are expected to make the jump from u18 football. Davy van den Berg may also feature here, as well as for the first team squad, after previously being on loan at Roda JC for the first half of last season. Rayan El Azrak also returns after playing for VVV-Venlo last term and he could be a main feature unless he's loaned out once more.
