Zwolle could not quite save themselves last season despite a valiant push in the spring as a truly dismal run in the first half of the season left them with too much to do. They thus begin their first season outside of the top-flight in a decade and will need some time to get used to the surroundings and being tagged as favourites in most games they play this season. Dirk Schreuder laid out good foundations since taking over at the start of the year and this Zwolle side looks ready to compete at the top and should generally be considered as the major favourite. Naturally, they have lost most of their coveted players since relegation, most notably Mees de Wit and Pelle Clement, but were also quite aggressive in bringing in proven quality at this level. Lennart Thy is a brilliant addition from Sparta and can easily score 20+ plus goals against the defences in this league while an old head like Bart van Hintum, joining from Groningen, is also invaluable in a push for promotion. There are still some concerns about the lack of depth in some areas but there are likely to be more signings before the end of August and at the moment Zwolle do look like the best-placed relegated side to make an immediate return to the Eredivisie.

Target

Securing immediate promotion.
