Football Season Guide

MVV Maastricht have not seen too many changes to their side here, despite finishing 16th last season in what was a disappointing campaign. Maurice Verberne will continue as head coach after taking over as caretaker boss in March. Romain Matthys is set to continue in his role as first-choice goalkeeper as he completes a full transfer from Eupen. MVV have also added Thijs Lambrix from Lommel to the 'keeping corp. Koen Kostons will provide some midfield reinforcement here, joining from Swedish side Dalkurd. He made just six league appearances last season and the 22-year-old will be looking to make his mark here. Winger Jimmy Vijgen joins from Roda JC and the 21-year-old seems to be another developmental signing for MVV. Belgian midfielder Lorenzo Noviello is the final addition thus far and is just 20-years-old. MVV's transfer strategy certainly seems obvious so far this window but more signings are likely, especially going forward. Toshio Lake, Mart Remans, Mitchy Ntelo and Sven Blummel are the side's attacking options at the moment but Ntelo was the only player to make double figures in terms of goals last term. Expect the starting line-up to stay similar to how it was last season but some of the younger signings will be looking to break through.
