2022/23 was a very disappointing season for Norwich. A lot was expected from the newly relegated Canaries after dominating the Championship in previous recent stints in the second tier but they didn’t even challenge for a playoff spot, finishing 13th. David Wagner is still the manager. Appointed in January he initially improved results but Norwich ended the season with just one win in their last 11 matches. Wagner has previously led Huddersfield to promotion from the Championship. There have been small changes to the squad rather than a full rebuild. The most notable departure is veteran forward Pukki (10 league goals last season). In regards incomings the policy seems to have been to target experienced players who can hopefully hit the ground running. Duffy, Stacey and Barnes know the Championship inside out. Fassnacht may prove a crucial signing. Norwich badly missed goals and creativity from midfield last season. He has the skillset and pedigree to provide both but has yet to play outside Switzerland. Norwich have a squad well versed in what it takes to succeed in the Championship however, this was also the case last season. They have impressed in pre-season and look stronger defensively with the additions of Duffy and Stacey. There is already pressure on Wagner who needs a good start. Home form is an area to improve with the Canaries only picking up 29 points from their 23 games at Carrow Road last season.

Target

Promotion is the goal, could end up in the playoffs.
