Bristol City lacked consistency and enough cutting edge last season. Struggled scoring goals, especially at home, and the lack of wins meant that from November onward they were no longer in contention for promotion. Safety was secured early as the results were decent enough for that. As a result, City cruised for the last 3 months of the campaign. So far in the off-season no major names left the club but it seems only a matter of when, not if, the big star of the midfield Alex Scott gets sold. Bristol are bracing for that and they already added 2 new inner midfielders to their ranks, Knight and McCroire, so they found replacements already. Of course, Scott was one of the best players in the entire division last season and without him City are likely to struggle even more in attack. Yet to sign any new forwards and this is a concern. It seems coach Nigel Pearson is banking on developing youngster Bell and using more extensively the winter signing Comick. Both showed lack of consistency last season though and Bristol might find this happening again. Defensively added 2 players and let 3 leave so nothing hugely new there. Tomas Kalas was resigned and after missing practically the entire last season injured the Czech will hope to be much more involved. He is one of the best centre-backs on the team when fit so Bristol are hopeful their defensive stats will improve. Mehmeti and Sykes are expected to play important roles in the wide areas this season. Weimann not so much. The veteran has been inconsistent and struggling for form this campaign.

Target

Will try to push for the play-offs but more likely to slumber through another season of mid-table existence without much excitement.
