Ended a 40-year wait for a title. Suffered only 3 league defeats all season, 19 wins and 10 draws. Had by far the best defence, only 32 goals conceded in 32 games. Henrik Dalsgaard was the most dominant defender in the entire league. Captain Patrick Mortensen (36-years-old) finally showed signs of slowing down. After winning the Golden Boot in 2024/25 last season he scored only 9 goals. Yet, 7 of his goals came in narrow wins so his impact was significant. Mortensen was let go this summer. Not a bad move as his production is only expected to decline further with age. Still, his leadership and goal instincts will be missed. Yet to sign a replacement. Might wait to see in which European competition they will land before deciding on that. After delivering the title in his first year in charge coach Poulsen is not expected to deviate from the very productive 3-5-2 shape he used almost exclusively. Tobias Bech will be the main focus in attack. He was the team’s top goalscorer last season with 14 goals. Norwegian playmaker Kristian Arnstad (9 goals and 10 assists) also had a breakthrough campaign. He is expected to play in advanced role in midfield. Might even feature as a secondary striker in some games, operated in this role in two recent friendlies. The midfield is by far the team’s strongest area. On top of keeping the starters from last season also added very experienced pair Jønsson and Anderson to the ranks. Both of them will provide the much needed depth once Aarhus start to navigate a congested schedule with midweek European matches added to the program. Main centre-backs Beijmo and Dalsgaard are no longer in the team. The latter retired and his experience will be missed. Haven’t signed replacements yet. Might not need to. Last season Mölgaard and Tingager missed most of the matches injured. Both are fit again and they are seen as natural starters in the roles vacated by the departed players.

Target

Defending their title will be a difficult task. Even a top 3 finish might be tough to achieve with Europe to think about on top of the domestic fixtures.
