Nordsjaelland enjoyed a much-better-than-expected last campaign. Claimed the bronze medals despite on average using 7 players age 20 and younger in most rounds. The Tigers relied on fast breaks and lethal finishing in transition. Not afraid to take risks they had the league’s equal-lowest number of draws – 5. Andreas Hansen was one of the few veterans that started regularly. He kept 9 clean sheets. In midfield, 19-year-old Caleb Yirenkyi proved to be a great playmaker. He was voted Young Player of the Season and became the only Nordsjaelland player to make the Team of the Year. Being part of the Right to Dream Academy the Tigers are bound to continue trusting many youngsters. The international organisation has a huge number of players age 16-19 on three continents and many of the best ones go past Nordsjaelland on their way to bigger clubs. That said it seems the season ahead is seen as an opportunity to mount a serious title challenge. Several experienced players are in the team now. Spent most of their summer transfer budget on making the loans of Lind and Adel, both arrived only last February, permanent moves. Another experienced winger Solbakken, 27-years-old, joined in late February. This added to the two vastly experienced inner midfielders Brink and Røjkjær, veteran defenders Salquist and Ankersen, as well as 31-year-old goalie Hansen, suddenly gives Nordsjaelland a unique blend of experience and bright young talent. The Tigers will continue to use relentless pace and aggressive counter-pressing as this has been their style for years now. The ability to close down spaces in wide areas is something the manager demands. It is very likely that lots of money will be received before the end of August for at least one-two of the top young prospects. A bidding war for Yirenkyi already started. Yet, the team’s experienced players and the many more youngsters pushing for senior exposure suggest Nordsjaelland will be even more competitive this season.
