Viborg played an all-or-nothing style all season. Scored plenty of goals but also conceded plenty. Had the fewest draws, only 5, with 13 wins and 14 defeats. Made the top 6 and ended up missing out on qualification for Europe by a single point. In the play-offs the inability to keep clean sheets, 7 of the 9 shut downs came during the regular season, cost them. Yet no major moves have been made so far in the summer to address that. The only new signing at the moment of writing is a young right-back Mohamed Iyadh Riahi, who is unlikely to play much. If anything the back line have gotten weaker with the departures of Radic and Mbom. The one positive in defence is that if Zaletel can find form, he missed most of last season injured, he can again be the team’s most impactful centre-back as he was just two years ago. Starting his second year in charge coach Lund still has pretty much all of his regulars in midfield and attack as options. Viborg created chances with ease last season. It remains to be seen how effective wingers Njoh and Jalal will be though. Both played very well before suffering serious injuries. Both might need time to regain sharpness once they are available again. Captain Jeppe Grønning and exciting young playmaker Mads Søndergaard will yet again be the main ball-distributors and chance-creators.

Target

Will be happy with another top 6 finish.
