Midtjylland finished as runner-ups in second consecutive season. Despite having by far the best attack in the league, 72 goals scored in 32 games, and losing just 4 games the Wolves stayed full 7 points behind Aarhus. Their undoing was their inability to win more games in which they dominated. No other side had as many as Midtjylland’s 12 draws in these 32 rounds. Striker Franculino missed 12 rounds injured and still he won the league’s Golden Boot with his 17 goals. His teammate Aral Simsir was voted the league’s Player of the Season. The winger had 9 goals and 14 assists. The latter was sold this summer but Franculino stays and hopes for better health. Osorio and the 2023/24 top goalscorer Gue-sung Cho, he missed 16 months injured in late 2024 and 2025, are expected to start a lot more in Simsir’s role. Both are very talented players. Cho especially has a lot to prove after his long absence and he can be a difference-maker in many games. No other major departures have occurred so far. If anything the Wolves got stronger with the additions of two quality players from the German Bundesliga. Kjell Wätjen joins an already solid midfield line. He is expected to form a formidable partnership with Billing. The other major signing was that of right wing-back Kristensen. He can be equally good as part of a back 4 and as a wing-back in 3-man defence. These are the two main shapes used by the manager so Kristensen should play a lot, especially with Mbabu gone. There is good depth and competition for places all over the pitch. Used to manage Europe and domestic games Midtjylland should be in the title mix. On paper they look the deepest and most accomplished squad in the league.
