Ajax had a poor season for their standards last year as they were too far away from the top half of the table for the most part and ultimately seemed like a group of players who had very little motivation and drive to get result. That said, there was improvement in the final stages of the season after Dave Vos arrived as a new manager and he will look to make a strong start and use the momentum that he garnered in the spring. There is o denying that the current crop of Ajax youngsters is not quite at the level of previous generations and Vos will have to adapt and work with what he has atn the moment. There is still some good talent around as players like David Kalakoh, Stanis Muzambo and Gabriel Misehouy could become more decisive and impactful in games this season. But the defence looks particularly shorn of the difference-makers that are needed to make this team more capable of withstanding pressure and holding their own against the more established teams in the league. Vos will want his men to find that character and drive within them though and will push for consistency and excellence across the board as Ajax look to get at least into the top ten this season.
