Head coach Bob Peeters led Helmond Sport to a 16th-placed finish in Eerste Divisie last season. That was an improvement upon their bottom-placed finish for the 2021/22 campaign under Sven Swinnen but they will hope to push further up the table this year. There have been a few changes in the squad as forward Eros Maddy has left to join AJ Auxerre over the summer. He only managed to score one league goal last season so shouldn't be too much of a loss. The departure of starting 'keeper Mike Havekotte will be felt more, however, whilst depth pieces Jelle Goselink, Emir Terzi, Gaetan Bosiers, Jarno Lion and Jafar Arias have also left the club. Midfielder Michael Chacon has now completed a full transfer. He had to deal with a fair amount of injury issues last term but will be hoping he has put that behind him. There have been a fair few new recruits too which seem to have bolstered the squad well. The likes of Giannis-Fivos Bostos, Pius Kratschmer, Michel Ludwig, Mohammed Amin Doudah and Wouter van der Steen will be pushing for significant game time. Helmond appear to be well-balanced ahead of the new season and have added some decent depth pieces to their defence. Midfield looks solid too. However, there does appear to be a lack of quality up top. Martijn Kaars will look to build on his 14 league goals last term but there isn't too much depth outside of that.
