Football Season Guide

Roda JC had an extremely disappointing campaign last season as they finished in 15th under Edwin de Graaf. They had qualified for the play-offs in back-to-back seasons under Jurgen Streppel in the two years prior. Bas Sibum will overtake head coaching duties for the new season. Roda have undergone a plethora of changes over the summer and will virtually have a new side for the 2023/24 campaign. The main loss is star forward Dylan Vente who has left to join Scottish side Hibernian. Vente had had back-to-back seasons of scoring 20+ league goals at Roda so he is a huge departure. More regulars from last year in Moritz Nicolas, Xander Lambrix, Terrence Douglas, Bryan Limbombe, Romano Postema, Guus Joppen and Lennard Hartjes have also left the club. However, after last year's disappointment, fresh faces could work out well. The club have brought in defenders Brian Koglin and Matisse Didden, whilst Wesley Spieringhs, Walid Ould-Chikh and Rodney Kongolo are midfield additions. Forward Enrique Pena Zauner has joined from Braunschweig and he will look to add some firepower up top. The squad still feels extremely light after the departures, especially since they have yet to bring in as many new arrivals. More work will be needed to improve the squad.
