Cambuur were a huge disappointment last season as their rather promising start of the season quickly turned into a miserable run of form and they managed just two wins from early October to late May. They had their chances to at least snatch a relegation play-off spot right until the final few weeks but ultimately were not good enough and desired to get relegated. Sjors Ultee remains in charge for the coming season despite his woeful record since taking over in November and he will aim to prove doubters wrong with a strong run early on. Yet, Cambuur currently do not look ready to go all out and compete with the likes of Groningen, Willem II and Emmen for the top places as their squad was ravaged by departures during the summer and reinforcements have been scarce. Fedde de Jong is a decent addition in midfield but otherwise there is very little to get excited about in terms of the arrivals. On the other hand, almost every player who did well last season and had some potential has ,moved on, including Mees Hoedemakers, Mitchell Paulissone, Sai van Wermeskerken and David Sambissa. That said, there is still enough quality for the Eerste Divisie level for this team to get lots of wins as players like Sylvester van der Water, Remco Balk. Daniel van Kamara and Leon Bergsma are more than good enough for this level. However, the worry for the Leeuwarden side is the lack of real depth in some areas and they need to address that until the end of the window to make this team a more serious title contender.

Target

Likely to be in the upper echelons of the standings but outside the top two.
