MVV Maastricht had a phenomenal campaign last season as they finished in fifth place and qualified for the play-offs for the first time since 2016/17. Maurice Verberne will be hoping to go further in the play-offs this time around after being eliminated at the first round. It may be difficult for Maastricht to repeat last season's success, nevertheless, since they lost a host a key players over the summer. The likes of Orhan Dzepar, Rein van Helden, Jarne Steuckers, Clint Essers, Matteo Waem and Ruben van Bommel have all left the club. Nevertheless, they have brought in their fair share of recruitments. Defenders Ozgur Atkas, Wout Coomans and Kanou Sy have all joined the side, whilst Bryan Smeets, Ferre Slegers and Rayan Buifrahi are all midfield additions. The big issue for MVV right now is forward options. After the losses of Blummel, Van Bommel and Jimmy Vijgen, only Mart Remans, Koen Kostons and Dailon Livramento are the current attacking choices. It seems like an out and out goalscorer is needed. However, they seem well-balanced at the back and in midfield if their new acquisitions can hit the ground running. Romain Matthys will continue to be key in between the sticks, whilst Kostens will be integral as a creative threat.
