Hacken probably surprised themselves as they took the Allsvenskan title with relative ease. Considering they finished 12th the previous season they came from nowhere with a remodelled squad. A 15-match unbeaten run (winning 5 of the last 6) until the end of the season secured the title for the modest Gothenburg team. Oddly, away form was better then at home (W9 D6 L0) and they were by a margin the highest scorers overall (69 goals). In demand Allsvenskan top scorer Jeremejeff (22 goals) had options but left for Greece and Panathinaikos and then to Levadiakos on loan. Significantly, nobody else playing an important part in last season’s triumph has departed. So far Hacken have not found a direct replacement for Jeremejeff leaving Turgott as the obvious replacement. However, Turgott is injured and out for the season, leaving Traore as the current option. Hacken’s defence was not the strongest last season so reliable defender Sandberg has signed from Hammarby. With several others returning from loan spells and a few promoted from the U19s, the squad is largely unchanged. The obvious weakness is who can replace Jeremejeff? Turgott made 23 appearances last season but only returned 2 goals while Rygaard scored 11 from midfield. Veteran Kamara has just signed. If Hacken can find a striker, and their overall standards can be maintained, then there is no reason why Hogmo’s team can’t be up there challenging again.

Target

To retain the title but find a replacement for Jeremejeff first.
