For much of last season Kalmar's dream of European football was alive as they stayed in contention for 3rd place. Sadly, form collapsed in the closing stages as they took only 4 points from the 12 available and missed 3rd place by 5 points. They were tactically astute and difficult to play against as evidenced by 14 clean sheets. The progress made by head coach Henrik Rydstrom had not gone unnoticed and he was snapped up by Allsvenskan giants Malmo. Regular starting defender Stenmark left. After recovering from serious injury, midfielder Filip Sachpekidis moves on. Experienced midfielder Backman has signed for Orebro. After a strong season striker Oliver Berg has stepped up a level to join Djurgardens. Another striker Crona has headed out on loan, while Diouf has also moved on after a brief spell at the club. Teenage centre-back Olsson returns from a loan spell and hopes to establish himself. Ylatupa is their most exciting signing and should bring some sparkle on the wings. In central midfield Gojani brings a wealth of experience. Rajovic is Berg's replacement in the striker's role and proved himself last season in the Danish 1st Division with 9 goals in 15 appearances for Naestved. Striker Hummet was a deadline day signing. Overall, not too many significant changes for Kalmar but can they cope with the loss of their inspirational coach and their reliable striker?

Target

Maintaining the standard of last season and achieving their goal of European qualification.
