Brommapojkarna won the Superettan title in 2022 in some style and had promotion all but secured with 7 games to spare. In the end they finished 6 points above Halmstad and 14 above the team after that. Brommapojkarna won 19 of their 30 games and lost only 6. They had by far the best scoring record in the division with 64 goals scored. This mainly due to solid contributions from many players. In the end all of Petersson, Vasic and Costic ended the season in double figures for goals. All 3 of them remain in the squad and will continue to be the main hope for goals up front. Aside from that Brommapojkarna had a turbulent off-season. The promotion-winning manager Mattiasson left at the end of the year to take charge of Sirius. Brommapojkarna replaced him with Olof Mellberg. The back line was also gutted with the main goalkeeper Olsson, and the 2 starting full-backs Krusnell and Bergvall sold. On top of that Djurgarden came calling for playmaker Odefalk and the 16-year-old wonderkid Lucas Bergvall, who is tipped to have an amazing career. Mellberg had to rebuild and he seemed to have done that well. Linner is an experienced goalkeeper, so are the defenders Argadius, Calisir and Heggem. Now the big question will be how fast they will gel together. Fritzson was signed to fill the void left by Odefalk. He is a vastly experienced player at a top flight level, so he’s expected to be solid. Brommapojkarna certainly have some good pieces in their ranks. However, with a new manager at the helm and more changes than wanted to the roster it is yet to be seen if the 2022 Superettan champions will enjoy life back in the top flight this year.
