Hammarby began 2022 as though it would be their year with 5 straight wins and only 1 defeat in 9 fixtures. They also just failed to retain the Swedish Cup as they lost on penalties to Malmo in the final. However, defeats and draws began to appear as added pressure from midweek European ties kicked in. They only lost 1 of their final 9 fixtures, but crucially they drew 4 of these and only 3rd place could be achieved. Veteran defender Magyar has retired and flying left-back Jeahze has moved to the USA. Another experienced defender Sanberg has gone to rivals BK Hacken. Highly experienced midfielders Bojanic and Andersen have also moved on. Striker Venton Berisha made an impact in his short stay but Hammarby cashed in and sold him to Molde in his native Norway. Hammarby will also miss attacker Gustav Ludwigson who now plays in Korea. In attack Hammarby have signed Nalic who has good experience with Malmo and Mikkelsen with top-flight experience in Norway. Teenage prospect Djukanovic has also joined, but none of this trio could be described as prolific scorers. Midfield is boosted with Tekie arriving from Dutch football and teenage prospect Vural. Overall, Hammarby have lost a lot of experience and notably their main striker. The new signings don't appear to be of the same quality.
