Karlsruher were a decent outfit under Christian Eichner last season, they eventually claimed a top six finish, despite being predicted to struggle. The main aim for Eichner and the club this summer was to keep hold of their top players and they have managed to do so. Wanitzek, Gondorf and Hofmann have all stayed put and that is a big plus. Karlsruher have also bolstered the squad slightly, bringing in wingers Kaufmann and Cueto to add more quality on the flanks. They have also added forward Schleusener from Nurnberg and permanently signed left-back Heise from Norwich. You would expect Karlsruher to be difficult to beat this season, they will be organised again under Eichner and will look to counter-attack with speed. The area of weakness could be their strength in depth, especially if injuries hit any of their first team regulars. They will also need to improve their home form if they are to replicate last season’s impressive finish.

Target

Top half. Anything is possible in regards to where Karlsruher could finish this season, you would expect them to avoid any relegation bother but at the same time it is unlikely that they will be fighting for promotion at the other end.
