Paderborn initially struggled last season after dropping down from the top flight, however, they did improve, eventually finishing just inside the top half of the table. There have been some big changes at the club over the summer with manager Steffen Baumgart leaving the club for Koln after five years in charge. Captain Schonlau has also moved on, as well as regulars Antwi-Adjei and Vasiliadis. Lukas Kwasniok is the new man in charge and joins the club after a successful spell at third-tier Saarbrucken. The Polish born coach has been busy bringing in some new faces over the close season as he looks to start fresh, as many as 10 players have been brought in so expect a completely different looking Paderborn this coming season. Among the new faces are talented attacker Platte from Darmstadt, defensive midfield duo Schuster and Mehlem and promising left-back Carls from Schalke. They have also secured the services of winger Fuhrich on a permanent deal from Dortmund. It is difficult to know what to expect from Paderborn this season but they could again start slowly as Kwasniok and his new look squad take time to settle. There is every chance they will be competitive in the division and you would expect them to improve as the season progresses.

Target

Top half. The aim has to be another top half finish for Paderborn as they look to rebuild the squad again. They could ultimately go either way, depending on how quickly the team can gel.
