St.Pauli finished in 10th position last season, improving dramatically after a poor start. It will be interesting to see if St.Pauli can push on this coming season, coach Timo Schultz looks to be building something slowly and you can see in the performances from the second-half of the last campaign that his team had real togetherness. The slight concern is that two of their top performers from last term, Zalazar and Marmoush, have returned to their clubs after loans. The goalkeeping position could also be an issue again after they were unable to secure the services of Stojanovic on a permanent deal. Even without the departed Marmoush, St.Pauli should continue to be strong going forward. Amenyido has been brought in to partner Burgstaller up front, while Kyereh is likely to again add firepower from midfield. Schultz has identified the defensive midfield area as a need for improvement, adding youngster Jakov Medic to the squad and securing the permanent signature of Eric Smith.

Target

Top six. There is no doubt that St.Pauli can spring a few surprises next season with the squad they have, a top six is certainly achievable but anything more than that could be a bit beyond them. Consistency and a good start is key to their progress.
