Osnabruck stormed to the third division title under coach Schulz last season, losing just 1 of their last 19 games. In 3 of the last 4 occasions that Osnabruck were in the second tier, they have gone back down at the first time of asking, so Schulz has attempted to build a squad strong enough to survive. Robin Meißner signed a permanent contract at the club after an impressive loan spell, the striker netted 13 goals last season. The loss of key midfielder Kehl is a blow, but playmaker Munst and young talent Wensing have also been brought in and should bring creativity and goals from midfield, providing they can make them step up from the third division. In defence Osnabruck have strengthened with former Israeli international Joel Abu Hanna brought in at centre-back. Faber is no stranger to this division and will add quality on the right, while Bornschein will be looking to showcase his talent. Winger Raimund and attacking midfielder Opitz have plenty of potential but struggled to stay fit in previous loan spells at Dusseldorf and Karlsruher respectively. The Purple-Whites have a strong team spirit and should be well organised, they will also pose a threat on the counter-attack. Strength in depth could be an issue if injuries hit. A surprise decision to let goalkeeper Jonsson leave could also backfire, new signing Krumrey is yet to fully convince after being demoted to back-up at previous club Kiel.
