Football Season Review

№18: MKE Ankaragucu

Here comes the last one of three jackpot winners... Another season where Ankaragucu spent most of the time on the lower standings. Last season, they reached salvation thanks to a last home victory. They are thankful to the Turkish FA’s decision this time around. There was no leading player in offensive performance, but a few players like Ilhan Parlak, Dever Orgill and Oscar Scarione shared most of the responsibility. They never managed to build a steady run during the whole season. In particular, they offered terrible performances between September and February. During that period, they recorded only one victory in 17 fixtures and the fans saw coaches changing three times. Of course, the board’s wrong coach decisions also affected this bad run as much as the squad. In the late fixtures, they were expected to collect more points in order to survive, but they were also unlucky to meet strong rivals in those matches. So their destiny was almost unavoidable. In this period, Gerson Rodrigues had a fight with Kulusic and then he was released. This annoying incident led to a team's positive reaction, but it was too late. The fans saw that the team managed to have the right chemistry with coach Ibrahim Uzulmez. They are expected to keep on working with him. At the moment, they are one of serious candidates for relegation. So it is a must to bring in players to give their squad more quality and more depth. Otherwise, nothing will save them once again.

Player of the Season: Ilhan Parlak
