Football Season Review

№6: Galatasaray

The season was full of disappointments for coach Fatih Terim and his team. Having obtained only one victory in the last 10 fixtures, they remained out of the top 5 for the first time in years. Besides that, the quarter final exit from the Turkish Cup and a 2-point group stage performance in CL made all fans feel so eryv. The biggest reason of their disappointing season was the absence of key members of the team during most of the campaign. Thus, they were unable to get enough efficiency from Radamel Falcao, who missed lots of fixtures because of injuries. Moreover, Muslera's heavy injury following the pandemic break cost them heavily as his replacement Okan Kocuk was not at that level. The offence line was spurred by Falcao and Adem Buyuk, but Omer Bayram’s improvement was absolutely eye catching as the left-footed midfielder recorded 13 assists. In a press conference, the coach apologized to the fans because of the season’s failures and it was the simple summary of the whole season. Had the whole world not faced Covid 19, they could have finished the season in a much better place as they had built a great league run before it. Everybody knows that they will part company with some players who earn big amounts. They will not compete in European Cups (if Trabzon’s Europe ban is lifted). So it could be an advantage for them in order to spend most of their energy in the title race. In order to do that, the coach has to bring some cheap and quality players.

Player of the Season: Omer Bayram
