AIK finished only 7th in 2025 W13 D9 L8. Their main weakness was their toothless attack. Only 3 teams in the entire top flight scored fewer than AIK’s 40 goals. This was a major fall from the 3rd place in 2024 and to no surprise the manager was changed in the winter. Spaniard Jose Riveiro arrived from the Egyptian champions Al Ahly. He spent 4 years prior his year in Egypt managing Orlando Pirates in South Africa. Riveiro’s main goal is to improve the forward actions. In 2025 AIK had the highest attendance in Sweden in 2nd consecutive year and the fans are hungry to see much more goals and home successes. In his previous jobs Riveiro favoured fluid front 4 with many wingers and no typical CF. Based on the transfer activity this winter, no new strikers added and 2 leaving, it seems he will use the same tactics at AIK. The only CFs that stay under the new manager are young duo Flataker (21) and Helm (20). Both are fast strikers that often play on the flanks so they fit the type of strikers the manager looks for. AIK lost main CM Saletros and starting CB Benkovic this winter. Mujanic and Cisse signed to replace them. They are both quality players that could develop into regulars.

Target

Confident of a top 6 finish. The goal is to make the top 4 and qualify for Europe.
