Spent only a year in the second tier. Return to the top flight as champions of Superettan. Had the most wins last season (20), the best attack (62 goals) and the second-best defence (30 goals). Despite the success coach Kalle Karlsson left this winter. Vasteras continue to have major financial difficulties and they opted to give the job to the vastly inexperienced 36-year-old Academy Director Alexander Rubin who has zero previous experience as a head coach. Risky move but if as expected Vasteras need to look for depth in their own Academy Rubin’s knowledge could be precious. Main left-back Max Larsson was sold to balance the books. So far this was the only major player to leave and at least until the summer Vasteras don’t need to bleed out more talent. Danish striker Ladefoged had a solid 2025. He scored 10 goals, the only player to get to double digits. His efforts this season will be supported by the returning to Sweden on loan star winger Boudah. Two more experienced arrivals from the relegated Norrkoping Lushaku and Baggesen will help in defence and midfield. Another solid full-back was added on loan – Karlsson. All this gives Vasteras depth and confidence that they can accumulate enough points to stay in the top flight.

Target

The goal is to stay above the bottom 3.
