Adana Demir made a disappointing finish last season, collecting only 10 points in the last three months despite carrying a great potential with Balotelli and coach Montella.
They are still working with the Italian coach but lost some key figures of the past season, especially in the offence zone. Offensive wingers Yunus Akgun and Matias Vargas, who have produced 14 goals & 25 assists, returned to their parent clubs after their loans came to an end. It the same story for Manchester City loanee keeper Muric.
With the arrivals of Ertac and Karacic, they should not face any problem in goal. Three Turkish players and Onyekuru were added for both flanks but their qualities are already questioned, especially following Onyekuru’s disappointing performances in the last season.
This season Adana Demir have not seen any major departure in defence. Besides that, four new defenders have been signed in Rakitskyi, Manev, Rodrigues and Dursun. The Portuguese left-back and former Zenit St. Petersburg man are very potential starters.
Finishing could be a potentian weakness. The situation of Balotelli is still unclear. He said that he wanted to play in a different country and is in talks with some clubs. They did not find a solution for his position yet. Foreign player quota could be another problem because their current Turkish players portfolio has not enough quality.
Only three of newly signed players are expected to be regular starters. At this point, the fans believe that they failed to bring in any influential player to make the team play for upper places.
A midtable place. Looking at their summer transfer market activity, it seems like they have lost their offensive efficiency despite saving their defensive structure. Somewhere between 8th and 14th places should be realistic.
