Genclerbirligi managed to stay at top level following their promotion and this was the most important target for the capital city side. As expected, they had difficult periods during the season but their Super League experience as a club helped them to survive. Ahead of their second consecutive season at top level, they have to deal with some important departures. Compared to last summer, their transfer policy also looks different as they have preferred lower-profile arrivals and players returning from loan periods so far. The biggest changes can be seen in offence line. Onyekuru and Niang left the team while Metehan Mimaroglu also moved to Trabzon. Moreover, some loan players who provided alternatives last season returned to their clubs. In order to increase the offensive options, they added Sekou Koita and welcomed Adama Traore & Dilhan Demir back from their loan periods. Koita knows Turkish football but his consistency will be important. It seems like they still need at least one reliable offensive player before the transfer window closes. In defence, the arrival of Kevin Rodrigues looks like a useful move considering his Super League experience. Ensar Cavusoglu and Berat Can Sebat were also added but both need to prove themselves at this level. Regular keeper Erhan Erenturk left for Corum while Gokhan Akkan returned from his loan period. In midfield, the departure of Samed Onur reduced their options. Some important loan spells also came to an end, so they do not seem to have the same depth at the moment. In general, Genclerbirligi look like one of the teams that still need some transfer activity. If the board manage to bring some experienced players, especially in midfield and offence, they should become more competitive.

Target

Survival should be their main target once again. Staying away from the bottom four would be considered a successful season. They need some more quality to do it comfortably.
