Samsunspor have managed to establish themselves as one of the competitive teams of the league following their return to top level. However, this summer brings another important squad change and some regular players have left the club. The board have already reacted with several additions but it may take time for the new structure to reach the desired level. Ahead of the new season, keeping their organisation while replacing some experienced names will be the main challenge. The biggest losses can be seen in defence. Rick van Drongelen left for Panathinaikos while Zeki Yavru, Lubomir Satka and Soner Gonul are also no longer in the squad. These players had important roles and their departures mean that the defensive structure will need to be rebuilt. Mustafa Tan, Ali Tarkan and Kerem Fidan returned following their loan periods but they are not proven options at this level yet. On the net, Irfan Can Egribayat returned to Fenerbahce while Bilal Bayazit was signed from Kayserispor. Considering his Super League experience, this looks like a useful move. Midfield has also changed significantly. Olivier Ntcham left after his contract came to an end while Franck Atoen was loaned to Dunkerque. In order to fill the gaps, Elliott Watt and Samed Onur were added while young Diabate also joined the squad. The new midfield may need some time to create chemistry. In offence, Fatih Kaya is the most notable new face. Richie Omorowa and Arbnor Muja also returned from their loan periods and should increase the options. The squad still has enough numbers but losing several experienced regulars at the same time always creates some danger. If the new arrivals adapt quickly, Samsunspor should remain competitive. Otherwise, the early part of the season could be more difficult than expected.

Target

A safe place in the upper half should be a realistic target. If the new squad reaches the desired level quickly, they can aim higher. Staying consistent will be the crucial point.
